H-13 MASH Helicopter

The H-13 Sioux (U.S. Army designation) was a two-bladed light engine helicopter built by Bell Aircraft Corporation. The U.S. Army ordered the first of these aircraft in 1947.
The H-13 and its military variants were often equipped with medical evacuation  panniers, one to each skid, with an acrylic glass shield shield to protect the patient from wind.

This particular model is a 1/35th scale Academy kit and was the first helicopter model that I’ve done.  There are more helicopter models for me to build in my inventory which include the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk , and CH-53E Super Stallion.

BF-109E-1

The latest subject I've been working on is a World War II German BF-109E-1. The is the first Messerschmidt I've ever modeled and have used it as a learning experience. So far I've got the aircraft assembled; the paint, decals and panel line washes applied. I still have to apply more weathering coats, permanently attach the canopy, propeller with hub and the radio antenna. I plan to display this on a base with a grass covering.

This model kit was manufactured by Eduard and is in 1/48th scale.

Gemini Spacecraft

A new model on the market from Dragon has arrived, the 1/72nd scale Gemini Spacecraft w/Spacewalker (Kit No:11103.) The model comes with three sprues, two molded in gray, and one molded in light brown which holds two astronaut figures. There is a triangular base molded in black with a silver metal curved piece in order to depict the spacecraft in horizontal flight. Photobucket There is a small, simple decal sheet with appropriate lines and "United States" lettering and flags. Instructions are printed on both sides of one sheet of paper.

Insructions suggest only seven colors for painting; Gold, Flat White, Flat Black, Steel, Neutral Gray, Dark Gray, and Gray.

Overall this looks like a fun project and just in time for 50th anniversary of US Manned Spaceflight.

I'm almost finished with painting and decal placement on the interior of the M2 Bradley. I still have to simulate paint chipping and then oil paint washes for weathering effects.

It’s been a while since I updated this spotty record of my modeling projects.  Currently I’m working on the Tamiy M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle. I hope to get this model completed in time for the 2012 Anniston Model show
.

Over the weekend I attended the Atlanta Military Figure Society’s Annual figure show and contest.  It was a great event, a lot of good deals and great work on the contest tables. I was able to get a pretty good deal on Alpine’s BAR gunner.

At long last there is a new 1/48th scale model of the Grumman A-6 Intruder twin jet-engine, mid- wing attack aircraft. This new model kit is produced by Kinetic Models and firm located in Hong Kong.

These are all good projects and I'd like to get them all completed before the 2012 IPMS National Convention in Orlando held at Walt Disney World in August.
